'Ya es Hora' coalition begins campaign encouraging naturalization

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people immigrate to the United States. Many settle right here in Miami hoping to find better opportunities and looking to build a new legacy for their families in a new country. Part of establishing that legacy is taking advantage of the opportunity to become a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Obama administration asked to end immigration bill stalemate

The issue of U.S. immigration policy has continued to be a divisive one in Miami. While current immigrants, those waiting to be allowed legal entry, advocacy, and the lawmakers themselves all seem to agree that immigration law is in need of sweeping reforms, the trick is getting those on all sides of the debate to agree on an acceptable solution on the state of immigrants currently in the United States.

Citizenship for illegals a divisive issue in immigration reform

Permanent residency is ultimate goal for many who have immigrated here to the U.S. and Miami illegally. And as the number of illegal immigrants has grown to over the years to 11 million people, so has the need to reform current immigration laws that address both the issue of those waiting to come into the U.S. and the issue of those currently here.

Employment visa issues impact all levels of U.S. infrastructure

Many people see Miami as a place where they can enjoy employment opportunities not afforded to them in their home countries. While many may argue that those opportunities should remain exclusive to citizens, to put a cap on the potential for industry growth by not welcoming foreign workers into the job market may prove to be detrimental to the area's economy in the long run.
