Dealing with a tenant who refuses to cooperate

As a landlord, our law firm realizes that you may have many different challenges. In Miami, and in cities across all Florida counties, there is a long list of problems that landlords encounter. At Cuevas, Garcia & Torres, we know that some of them are the result of tenants who refuse to abide by the terms of their rental agreement. Whether a tenant is refusing to pay rent to his or her landlord or is not leaving after having been served an eviction notice, landlords should do what they can to handle these situations properly.

Depending on the nature of your dispute, you may have to contact law enforcement officials or take legal action. Additionally, your tenant may decide to take you to court, whether or not their claims are valid. This can be incredibly stressful, especially if you are facing other difficulties due to your tenants refusal to cooperate. For example, you may be going through hard times financially because you have not been receiving rent that you were owed.

We know how frustrating this can be and you may have a hard time keeping your emotions in check. However, it is very important for you to do your best to stay composed and hold your tenant accountable for any wrongdoing. If legal action has become necessary, you should be very familiar with your responsibilities and the relevant details of the situation. By planning ahead and knowing your landlord rights, a more favorable outcome may be within reach.

Over on our real estate page, you can see more related to tenant disputes.
