Tenant says landlord destroyed property during eviction

Sometimes, landlords may be accused of wrongdoing during the eviction process. On certain occasions, these allegations are based on truth. However, some landlords in Miami or another Florida city may be falsely accused of violating the law by their tenants. Unfortunately, there are many reasons why landlords may find themselves in this situation, such as a tenant being upset about his or her eviction.

A tenant is accusing his Florida landlord of destroying his property while she was being evicted. The 40-year-old tenant is accusing his landlord of destroying or stealing more than $35,000 worth of his property. In fact, he provided authorities with a list, with property such as a computer, shoes, a television, and textbooks.

The tenant says that his property was either destroyed or stolen while he was sleeping in his vehicle because his landlord refused his rent, which he was allegedly trying to pay with a money order. As a result of the allegations, his 65-year-old landlord was taken into custody and is facing felony grand theft charges. Bond has been set at $5,000.

If you have found yourself in the middle of any type of real estate dispute, you could have all sorts of questions. While this is understandable, you should immediately try to find answers and need to know the potential severity of these types of cases. For many landlords, and others who are going through these types of real estate matters, discussing the ins and outs with a legal professional who knows how to approach a dispute could be wise.
