Florida immigrants who are seeking U.S. residency may be interested in some tips on things to avoid during the green card application process. These mistakes can seriously delay or invalidate an application.
After a person has applied for permanent residency in the U.S., the process can take a long time to complete. During this time, those who are eligible for a green card may need to be aware of several things that could affect their chances of gaining permanent residency.
For instance, any false information on the green card application or given to officers from the USCIS could make a person ineligible for residency. Blank answers on the forms could also delay the process. If an answer does not apply, the applicant should answer “N/A” instead of leaving it blank. When the applicant receives their medical examination results, they are generally in a sealed envelope. Opening this envelope can invalidate the examination and force the person to be re-examined, causing additional delays.
There are numerous activities that could bar a person’s application for permanent residency. These include giving legal advice to another person without a law license and committing any crimes within the United States. Additionally, smuggling others into the U.S. is illegal and will most likely affect a person’s green card application. Lastly, living outside of the country for too long after a green card is granted could result in the person’s permanent residency status being revoked.
