It is not uncommon for Florida neighbors to occasionally disagree about property issues. For instance, a tree growing in one person’s yard might extend over a fence into a neighbor’s yard and the two neighbors might disagree about whether the neighbor in the second yard has a right to trim the branches of the tree that are hanging over the fence. Sometimes, a real estate disputes arise that requires litigation to resolve. And, sometimes, as has happened in another state, minor disagreements can get out of hand and turn into major legal problems.
Neighbors were fighting over a property line
A dispute occurred in another state between two neighbors who disagreed about the property line between their houses. One man reportedly got so angry that he drew a firearm against his neighbor. The neighbor later told police that he put both hands in the air and told the man who was pointing the gun at him that he did not want any trouble. He also said that after placing his hands in the air, he walked into his garage.
Witnesses who saw what happened got involved in the real estate dispute
Also, in the man’s garage were several of his friends and numerous children. One of the friends admitted to police that he stepped out of the garage with a rod in his hand. He also said that when he noticed the other man had drawn a gun, he, too, pulled his own pistol from its holster, pointed it toward the man with the gun, and told him to go back into his house.
Try to resolve property line issues without firearms
Understandably, it is never a good idea to provoke violence or threaten a neighbor with a firearm. In fact, such situations often lead to criminal charges.
